Mastercraft Series – Administrative and Public Law: What all public servants should know
ABOUT THIS EVENT
IPAA Queensland, in partnership with Holding Redlich, was delighted to invite the public purpose community to our first Mastercraft series event for 2024.
The theme for this Mastercraft was ‘The Fundamentals of Administrative and Public Law’ and sought to illuminate the basics of legislation development, administrative law, and public law, and shareed with attendees what is needed in order to navigate these particular arms of law in the public purpose sphere.
About Administrative Law
By way of introduction, administrative law is the body of law that regulates government decision making.
Reviewing government decisions is a key component of access to justice and the Australian Government works to improve the quality of access to justice for individuals by adopting best practice in administrative decision making.
About Public Law
Australian Public Law is connected to many aspects of the functioning of the key constitutional institutions of government at the national, state, and territory levels, and how those institutions interact with one another and with the Australian people.
The wide-ranging impact of Australian Public Law on the Australian legal system and on Australian governmental, judicial and social activities means that a basic knowledge of the terminology, institutions, and substance of Australian Public Law is not only worthwhile acquiring in its own right but is also fundamental knowledge for many public service professionals.
FORMAT
Joanne Jary, Partner and the Alexandra Hollings from Holding Redlich took the stage to share insights on the fundamentals of public law. This included anecdotes from their combined experience.
