Looking Back and Looking Forward – An Economic Perspective

As 2022 comes to a close, IPAA Queensland, in partnership with MGD Wealth, is pleased to invite the public purpose community to what will be an insightful financial analysis of the year that was, and share insights on the year to come.

The state of the Australian economy over 2022 has indeed been a tumultuous one. With sharp increases in interest rates, inflation, falling consumer confidence, a change in Federal Government leadership, combined with several natural disasters, emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic has presented significant and largely unexpected challenges.

But – what does it all mean for Government, business and households? What economic shape are we in? And, most importantly – where to from here?

Get on the front foot for 2023, understand the constraints and opportunities from our expert partners, along with their insights on what we can expect for the economy in the new year and how organisations and individuals may best respond.

Jarek Kowcza, a Senior Economist with Westpac Business Bank, will share his perspective on the outlook for 2023 after providing a 2022 economic synopsis. His talk will be very timely after the release of the National Accounts on 7 December and Jarek will also provide a snapshot of how the Queensland economy is faring.

In light of rising inflation and interest rates, and some significant recent and proposed changes in Federal legislation, Richard Marsden, Director for International and Executive with MGD Wealth, will share his thoughts on what the changing landscape means for personal financial strategy.

This event is for everyone interested in receiving insights into the issues around Australia’s economy in 2022, and how these issues will affect Government, business and individuals in 2023.  It will no doubt challenge our thinking and keep us informed as we end another year.
