2021 Department of Resources Speaker series – Rethinking disability by changing attitudes
This week as we cheer on our Aussie athletes competing in the Paralympics, it might surprise Queenslanders to learn that while 18% of our community identifies as living with disability, only 3% of the public service does. Yet attitudes toward disability and workplace practices are rapidly changing across both public and corporate sectors.
In the next Department of Resources Speaker Series for 2021, Dr Dinesh Palipana, a passionate disability advocate, will share reflections on his journey becoming the first quadriplegic medical intern and medical school graduate in Queensland. Dinesh is currently a senior resident doctor at Gold Coast University Hospital and co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities Australia which is creating first-of-kind national policies for inclusivity in education and employment.
